On Thursday, June 19, 2025, at approximately at 9:18 PM, the Town of Warwick Police Department responded to a report of an assault on Helene Road.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 30-year-old female, who had sustained multiple stab wounds. Officers immediately rendered first aid at the scene. The victim was able to identify her attacker and provided officers with a nearby address on the same road. She was transported to Garnett Health Medical Center in Middletown with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers made contact with the suspect, identified as Emerly Hernandez, 24, of Helene Road. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Town of Warwick Police Department for processing.
Hernandez was charged with Assault in the First Degree, a Class B felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a Class A misdemeanor. She was arraigned and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
The case is being investigated by the Town of Warwick Police Department’s Detective Unit.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation that the defendant has committed a violation of the criminal law, and is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the State of New York’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
