Pike Environmental Organizations Listening Event
Milford. Several environmental organization representatives will gather for discussion at the new DVA! Engagement Center on Feb. 24, 3-5 p.m.
The environmental quality of Pike County is the reason many have settled in this area. The public is invited to a Pike County Community Conversation on the environment on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 3-5 pm. The Community Conversation is co-sponsored by the Conservation Voters of PA, SEEDS, PennFuture and Delaware Valley Action!
The co-sponsoring organizations will listen to environmental concerns around Pike County and what people want to see environmental organizations working on in the coming year (and beyond). To learn more about the co-sponsoring organizations, visit their websites:

The Community Conversation will be held from 3-5 pm at the DVA! Community Engagement Center at 315 Broad Street in Milford, PA. Sign up here: http://tinyurl.com/yehsnkdu
This free “Community Conversation” is meant to be an open discussion between community members and a chance for you to get to know other advocates here in Pike County! We hope to discuss the work CVPA, DVA, SEEDS, and PennFuture have been doing, what environmental issues need to be addressed, and what steps can be taken here in the Poconos toward environmental conservation and protection from severe weather events caused by climate change.
A Zoom option will be available for those unable to attend in person. Refreshments will be provided, so come and gather with others in your community and discuss what matters to YOU!

About The DVA! Community Engagement Center: The DVA! Community Engagement Center is designed to be a space where community members, groups and organizations can meet, share ideas, and participate in a variety of activities. From proposed book clubs to craft circles, art classes, mahjong clubs, and poetry workshops, the Center will host a range of events open to the public. With regularly scheduled programs, there's something for everyone, encouraging a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
Features and Activities:
⦁ Drop-in Center: The Center is currently open for drop-ins three days a week (Mon 11-2, Fri 1-3 and Sat 11-2) During these times, DVA! welcomes individuals to connect, make friends, and engage in activities such as playing games or ping pong, working on jigsaw puzzles from our puzzle library, organizing your own club/group, or simply to chat over a cup of coffee.
⦁ Classes: Hosted by our community members, we encourage those with talents to share to offer classes (one off or series!) to our community. Whether it's starting a mystery book club, finding a D&D game, or connecting with crafters to use up your stash of scraps, we are encouraging people to use our space, and find a group to join or start.
⦁ Free Store: The Center will pilot a "free store" to provide essential items, initially beginning with diapers, wipes, menstrual products, and laundry products. This no-questions-asked pantry aims to complement existing community services, addressing the needs of residents. This will be open during drop-in hours and by appointment.
⦁ Organization Meeting Space: The Center is open for groups, clubs to hold their own events/meetings on days when it is not reserved for another purpose.
