Muckville Free Movie Screening About Local Farming Family
Grow Local Greenwood Lake will host a screening and Q and A with local farmer Chris Pawelski on Thursday at Greenwood Lake Senior Center.
Chris Pawelski almost ran out of time, as a fourth generation onion farmer on the post-glacial black dirt of Goshen, NY. Chris i one of millions of farmers in America facing difficulty earning a living. "Muckville" follows the story of Chris's family farm through time, from the 'Polish wave' of the early 20th Century, through the onset of climate-driven crop failures in the 1990's and subsequent pitfalls of US agricultural policy, and Chris's resulting existential crisis.
After this short film there will be a question and answer period with Chris Pawelski. This is an opportunity to listen to and learn from a local farmer about all they go through.
