Letter: Invitation to Sustainable Warwick Rhododendron Hike
Hello fellow hikers!
Our native rhododenderon jungle at Wawayanda State Park is in bloom early July, and we’re hiking with Sona to admire them on Sunday, July 6th at 9am.
Given the summer heat, an earlier start is wiser, so we will meet at the park’s main parking lot at the lake at 9am. There is a $10 entry fee, but it helps our local parks who need our support more than ever.
This will be a longer hike, around 5 miles and should take around 4 hours with brief stops, so prepare for that with the right shoes, bug spray and PLENTY of water, packed lunch/juicy snacks, and hiking poles would not go amiss. Some training walks beforehand will make your hike all the more comfortable. Uphill training is gold!
Please let us know if you will be joining us, so that we can inform you of any weather cancellations ahead of time. Also let us know if you’re no longer coming so that we don’t wait for you in vain at the parking lot.
Please reply to garden@sustainablewarwick.org if you would like to join us and we will send directions to the meeting location.
Looking forward to our next botanical adventure, and discovering our natural treasures with you!
