Earth to Warwick! Events to Spotlight Local Sustainability Ventures
Several Warwick sustainability-focused groups will hold events in the spring.
Warwick, NY. Earth to Warwick! events will highlight smart climate action and sustainability happening in the Warwick Valley this spring. People in Warwick are taking action to help the planet, from students in classrooms to organizers in the community. "Earth to Warwick!", a new initiative led by community partners Wickham Works, Sustainable Warwick, and the Village of Warwick’s Climate Smart Task Force, aims to unite sustainability initiatives under one umbrella.
As we enter the spring season, Earth to Warwick! highlights and celebrates the diverse range of events taking place throughout the community with a promotional campaign and a three-month Green Calendar.
Some of the programs the Warwick community can look forward to include an Earth Day Storytime and Puppet Show from the Albert Wisner Public Library, Arbor Day Celebrations from the Town and Village of Warwick’s Shade Tree Commissions, Operation Clean Sweep from the Chamber of Commerce, the Coolest Recycling Drive and Composting Programs from Sustainable Warwick, the Warwick Repair Cafe, and Too Good to Toss events.
Launching the Earth to Warwick! season is Treecycle 2024, a free, one-day celebration of the power of art, community, and environmental action. It will be held on April 20th from 1 to 6 p.m. at Stanley Deming Park, Warwick, NY (rain date: April 21st). This spring festival is produced by Wickham Works and sponsored by the Village of Warwick. Treecycle 2024 is all about climate-smart living with art installations, hands-on workshops for all ages, information booths, entertainment and food.
“The Earth to Warwick! Campaign will amplify the impact of each community sustainability event and inspire more individuals to participate in creating a greener future for the Warwick Valley,” said Michael Newhard, Warwick Village Mayor.
The Green Calendar is available on the Sustainable Warwick website at www.sustainablewarwick.org.
